What it pays or provides
For full-time, full-year enrollment in 2026-27, the Oregon Opportunity Grant pays $1,224 to $4,320 a year at a community college, or $1,800 to $8,352 a year at a four-year Oregon school, depending on your Student Aid Index (SAI). You can renew it for up to four years (12 quarters or 8 semesters) as long as you keep making satisfactory academic progress and file a new FAFSA or ORSAA every year.
Who qualifies
You need to have lived in Oregon for at least 12 months before starting college, be an undergraduate without a prior bachelor's degree, show financial need, and be enrolled at a participating Oregon college or university. Undocumented and DACA students qualify if they meet all the other requirements. You can't be in default on a federal student loan or owe a refund on a federal student grant.
How to apply
There's no separate application -- file your FAFSA or ORSAA as soon as possible each year, and your college uses that to consider you for the Oregon Opportunity Grant automatically. For the 2026-27 academic year, submit your FAFSA or ORSAA by May 15, 2026 to be considered.
Keeping it (renewal)
You can keep the grant for up to four years (12 quarters or 8 semesters) if you maintain satisfactory academic progress and file a new FAFSA or ORSAA each year.
