OHP Health Related Social Needs (HRSN) Housing Benefit
Rent help through your OHP plan
What it pays or provides
This benefit can pay up to six months of rent, including late payments, plus utilities like gas, electric, and water (including setup and late payments), and up to six months of storage fees. It also covers tenancy support -- help understanding your lease, talking with your landlord, and referrals to other services -- home changes like pest control, heavy-duty cleaning, ramps, grab bars, and drawer pulls, and climate items like air conditioners, heaters, air filters, mini fridges, and portable power supplies.
Who qualifies
You need to be an OHP member with a household income at or below about 30% of the average income where you live, and meet at least one health condition: a complex health condition that's new or getting worse; being under 6, 65 or older, or a young adult with special health care needs; being pregnant or having given birth in the last 12 months; having experienced domestic violence in the last year; or having a developmental or intellectual disability. This is a one-time benefit per household -- if you or someone in your household already received it, you can't get it again.
How other benefits affect it
This benefit is included with OHP -- you need to already be an OHP member to request it. Wait times to get approved vary by CCO.
How to apply
If you're in a coordinated care organization (CCO), call your CCO or ask for its HRSN housing request form. If you have the OHP open card (fee-for-service) instead of a CCO, fill out an HRSN Housing Request Form and email it to ORHRSN@acentra.com, or call 1-888-834-4304. If you don't know which CCO you're enrolled in, call OHP Client Services first.
