WIC (Women, Infants & Children)

Food & support for pregnant people & young kids

Last verified: July 5, 2026

What it pays or provides

WIC provides nutritious food, help with breastfeeding, and a caring community for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding people, infants, and children under 5. Your exact food package is set through your local WIC clinic.

Who qualifies

You can get WIC if you live in Oregon, are pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding, or have an infant or child under 5, your household income is under WIC's limit, and you have a nutritional need or risk. If you already qualify for OHP, TANF, SNAP, or FDPIR, you're automatically income-eligible for WIC. As of June 2024, the yearly income limit is about $29,526 for a household of 1, about $50,452 for a household of 3, and about $61,050 for a household of 4, with about $10,508 added for each extra person.

Income limits by household size

WIC also lists monthly, twice-a-month, every-2-weeks, and weekly versions of the same limit, in case that's easier to check against your pay stubs.

People in your householdMonthly income limit (about)
1$2,460
2$3,340
3$4,210
4$5,090
5$5,960
6$6,840
7$7,710
8$8,590

Limits shown are approximately 185% of the federal poverty guidelines, rounded — the program’s own table is the final word.

How other benefits affect it

Getting SNAP, OHP, TANF, or FDPIR already qualifies your household for WIC's income rule, so it's worth applying for WIC alongside those programs rather than after.

How to apply

By phoneIn person

WIC isn't applied for online. Start with the eligibility checker or interest form on the Oregon WIC website, then contact your local WIC clinic directly to finish your application -- those online steps are not the official application by themselves.
