What it pays or provides
Honored Citizen fare cuts what you pay for transit — $1.40 for 2.5 hours or $28 for a monthly pass, instead of full fare, which works out to up to 72% off.
Who qualifies
You qualify automatically if you already get Oregon Health Plan/Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, Free & Reduced Price Lunch, a HUD Housing Choice Voucher, LIHEAP, Employment Related Daycare, or WIC. If you don't have one of those, you can still qualify by showing your income is low enough on its own. Either way, you also need to be between 18 and 64 years old, an Oregon resident, and not already using another Honored Citizen fare.
Income limits by household size
If you don't already receive one of the qualifying programs above, TriMet checks your gross income against its own limit, which runs close to twice the poverty line.

How to apply
Apply online at trimet.org/income (the application link on that page), or in person at a TriMet enrollment location. For help with your application or eligibility, email transitassistance@trimet.org.
Documents you’ll likely need
- A benefit summary letter if you already get a qualifying program, OR income verification such as pay stubs, an unemployment letter, a tax return, or WorkSource verification
- A valid photo ID (driver's license, passport, state or foreign ID, military ID, tribal ID, or citizenship certificate)
- Proof of Oregon residency if your ID doesn't show an Oregon address
